The Department of Otolaryngology offers a variety of basic, translational, and clinical research programs. These include basic science projects in hearing sciences, chemosenses, and oncology. Modern, well-equipped laboratories, designed with an open laboratory concept allows close collaboration among the faculty in differing disciplines.
Translational research is occurs in many clinical areas and ongoing clinical trials are conducted in many areas. The Department is preeminent in implantation of newly developed middle ear active prostheses and has developed active working relationships with manufacturers in the design and testing of these devices. Faculty members are active within the Cancer Center in clinical trials for new drugs and combined modalities of treatment.
