Esophageal and Gastric Cancer
Multidisciplinary Clinic

The Esophageal and Gastric Cancer Multidisciplinary Clinic is designed to offer patients a one-stop comprehensive evaluation of benign and cancerous conditions of the esophagus and stomach.

Diseases of the esophagus and stomach are often challenging to diagnose and treat. In a traditional medical system, appointments can drag out over weeks or months as patients visit the many specialists who need to be consulted. At our clinic, patients are seen by a team of specialists over a two-day period, with the goal of having a treatment plan by the end of the visit.

We bring together a team of experts (surgeons, gastroenterologists, pathologists, oncologists, radiologists, radiation oncologists, nutritionist, and more) focused on the esophagus and stomach. The team analyzes your individual situation and recommends a specific treatment plan for you.

Operations on the esophagus can be a complex undertaking. Experience and volume have been associated with improved outcomes. The surgeon specialists at our center perform more of these operations than any other hospital in Colorado.

We are also the only hospital in more than a 500-mile radius where you will find doctors who are part of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) advisory panel. The NCCN establishes treatment guidelines that doctors all across the United States use as a reference.

Whenever possible, we look for ways to treat esophageal and gastric conditions using the least invasive techniques that can accomplish the goal. For esophageal and gastric cancers, we have a team of abdominal and thoracic cancer surgeons who specialize in treating these tumors using traditional and laparoscopic techniques. Using the minimally invasive techniques offers the potential benefits of a faster recovery, less incisional pain, and fewer wound infections and pulmonary complications.
