The University of Colorado Cancer Center supports eight disease or treatment-specific scientific focus groups. Each specialty group meets regularly to discuss collaborative opportunities in research and clinical trials to conquer cancer. Many of these groups also include patient advocates who can help provide a unique perspective to the physicians and researchers.
The goal of the scientific focus groups is to make cancer research more effective and share findings across the cancer center in an accelerated timeline. These interdisciplinary team meetings help solve some of the most challenging questions and foster discoveries in cancer research. By incorporating expertise across disciplines, these teams can develop innovative solutions to help reduce the burden of cancer through improved prevention, detection, and treatment approaches.
