Current Open RFAs

Gabrielle’s Angel Foundation

These awards support promising physician‑scientists who are applying novel, state‑of‑the‑art approaches to address fundamental challenges in the development and treatment of blood‑related cancers. Projects focused on prevention, early detection, or treatment of blood cancers, particularly those with a clear path toward clinical translation within 3–5 years, are preferred. 

 

Conventional/Mainstream Projects: Eligibility: Applicants must hold an MD or PhD and be junior faculty at the Assistant Professor level for no more than five (5) years. Duration: Three (3) years. Funding: $75,000 per year. 

 

Integrative Medicine Projects: These projects explore evidence-based complementary interventions that enhance mainstream cancer care and improve quality of life for individuals living with cancer (e.g., acupuncture, meditation, nutrition, physical fitness, botanical agents). Eligibility: Applicants must hold an MD or PhD and be junior faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level for no more than five (5) years. Duration: Three (3) years. Funding: $75,000 per year.   

 

The CU Anschutz Cancer Center may submit one (1) nomination per award type.

Gabrielle’s Angel Foundation RFA

Susan G. Komen

Research projects must be hypothesis-driven, breast cancer-focused studies. They may be considered basic, translational, clinical, and/or population science in nature and should align with Komen’s research goals, priorities, and mission to save lives from breast cancer. 

 

Career Transition Awards (CTA): Supports postdoctoral and clinical fellows, under mentor guidance, as they transition to independent breast cancer research careers. 

  • Eligibility: No more than five (5) years of postdoctoral research experience by the award date. 
  • Duration: Five (5) years total- Phase 1: two (2) years of mentored postdoctoral training, and Phase 2: three (3) years of independent, tenure‑track research. 
  • Amount: Up to $650,000 (up to $100,000/year in Phase 1, up to $150,000/year in Phase 2).

 

Career Catalyst Research (CCR): Supports early‑career faculty by providing up to three (3) years of protected research time under a Mentor Committee. 

  • Eligibility: Must hold a full‑time faculty appointment and have no more than six (6) total years in any faculty roles (tenure‑track or non‑tenure‑track combined). 
  • Duration: Up to three (3) years. 
  • Funding: Up to $150,000/year.

 

The CU Anschutz Cancer Center may submit one (1) nomination per award type.
