The University of Colorado Cancer Center is pleased to offer pilot grant funding to support the development of exceptional research projects leading to the ultimate conquest of cancer and furthering CU Cancer Center objectives.
BCA invites clinical doctors and research scientists who are in various stages of their careers, including post docs, whose current proposal is focused on breast cancer.
There are two grant types: Young Investigator Grant and Exceptional Project Grant
Young Investigator: This award supports the career development of young researchers who have not yet secured major grant funding, but who design and conduct their own independent research projects. Eligible applicants must not have held a tenure-track faculty or tenure-track research position for more than four years following completion of their training, as of March 1, 2027. Recipients must dedicate at least 50% of their time to research. The award period will begin on March 1st, 2027. Funding will be $125,000 over 2 years ($75,000 each year).
Exceptional Project: This award recognizes creative, unique, and innovative research related to breast cancer. This award will begin March 1st, 2027. Funding will be $100,000 for one year.
The CU Cancer Center may submit two (2) nominations to the BCA: 1 Young Investigator and 1 Exceptional Project.
You may only submit one LOI. It is your choice as to which application best suits your experience.
Submissions for internal review are due by 5 pm MT on Friday, February 6th.
This opportunity supports CU and CSU investigative teams to carry out collaborative research using resources provided by companion animals being treated for cancer at the Flint Animal Cancer Center. All areas of cancer research are eligible to apply with the lone criterion being the inclusion of companion animal resources as a significant component of the approach.
Eligibility: Co-Principal investigative teams- must include a CSU and a CU Investigator
Duration: 2 Years for Basic Studies; 2-3 Years for Clinical Studies
Amount: $100,000 maximum request for 2-year basic sciences studies, $150,000 maximum request for 2-year (can be extended to 3 years) studies utilizing companion animal clinical patients

The Denver chapter of GAC is committed to promoting the development of strong, competitive research projects by Cancer Center members with the potential to secure NCI or other national peer-reviewed cancer research funding.
Eligibility: Must be a member of the Cancer Center. Individuals who received a GAC award or Wings of Hope pilot grant in 2023, 2024, or 2025, or who hold earlier awards from these sponsors that are still active, are ineligible. Anyone listed as a co‑PI on those grants is also ineligible.
Duration: 1 year.
Amount: For fiscal year 2026-27, funding will be available for 2-3 pilot projects, up to $50,000 each

Golfers Against Cancer (GAC) Funding Opportunity 2026 – 2027 Award Cycle
