The University of Colorado Cancer Center is pleased to offer pilot grant funding to support the development of exceptional research projects leading to the ultimate conquest of cancer and furthering CU Cancer Center objectives.
The Mary Kay Ash Foundation®, a committed funding source for innovative cancer research, invites applications for translational research grants focused on cancers affecting women, including but not limited to breast, cervical, endometrial, ovarian, uterine, and other cancers that predominantly affect women. It is highly encouraged to provide a clear clinical pathway for impact on patient outcomes in the next 2-3 years. Funding will be $100,000 total over a two-year period. Only full-time faculty at the Assistant Professor level or higher are eligible.
The CU Cancer Center may submit one (1) nomination to the Mary Kay Ash Foundation. Submissions for internal review process are due by 11:59 pm MT on Wednesday, December 3rd.

PCRF is proud to support the following types of grants, now aligned with their core priorities: Powering Research, Equitable Care, and Survivorship & Mental Health.
There are three grant types: Legacy Researcher, Translational and Emerging Investigator.
Legacy Researcher: This grant is given to a long-standing PCRF-funded researcher for at least five years, who has demonstrated consistent progress and outcomes in pediatric cancer research.
Translational: This grant is given to single or multi-institutional programs that involve open, cancer clinical trials or consortia, and implement new approaches to therapy. These grants support “bench to bedside” research, whose endpoint is often the planning or initiation of a clinical trial.
Emerging Investigator: These grants are designed to support PhD Fellowships and Clinical Investigator training for emerging pediatric cancer researchers to pursue exciting research ideas. Applicants must have completed two years of their fellowship or not more than two years as a junior faculty instructor or assistant professor at the start of the award period.
The CU Cancer Center may submit one (1) nomination per award type to the PCRF. Submissions for internal review process are due by 5 pm MT on Friday, January 9th.
This award is designed to recognize scientists whose personal journeys, shaped by unique experiences and perspectives, bring valuable and often overlooked insights into adult cancer research. The V Foundation’s Breaking Barriers in Cancer Research Award highlights how those lived experiences have influenced career paths and research focus, while supporting some of the most innovative and impactful proposals in the field. This award is specifically for adult cancer research.
There are two grant types:
V Scholar: Supports early-career, tenure-track faculty (Assistant Professors) pursuing lab-based or translational cancer research. Designed to help investigators build momentum toward larger grants like R01s. *Please note: the internal LOI must include the V Scholar financial worksheet linked below.*
Translational: Supports “bench to bedside” research, whose endpoint is planning or in initiation of a clinical trial. Research should apply in some direct way to human beings within 3 years from the end of the grant. Open to investigators at all career stages, with no committed funding restrictions.
The CU Cancer Center may submit one (1) nomination to the V Foundation: 1 Translational or 1 V Scholar.
Submissions for the internal review process are due by 5 pm MT on Friday, December 5th.
Breaking Barriers Award- V Scholar
There are three grant types: V Scholar, Translational and All-Star.

Applicants need to have at least 2-years post-doctoral (MD or PhD) fellowship training. *Please note: applicant's internal LOI submission must include the V Scholar financial worksheet linked below.*
Translational: Supports “bench to bedside” research that advances discoveries into clinical trial planning or initiation. Projects must show clear potential for direct human application within three years of the grant’s end. Applicants must hold a full-time faculty appointment at the Assistant Professor level or higher.
All-Star: Applicants must previously have received a V Foundation research grant as a PI to be eligible. Additional requirements can be found in the RFA linked below.
