Shared Resources

The Animal Imaging Shared Resource provides access to state-of-the-art instrumentation, advanced imaging protocols, novel imaging tracers, and image analysis to facilitate non-invasive small animal imaging. AISR is the only facility in Colorado that provides comprehensive expertise in small animal imaging, including use of Bruker 9.4 Tesla MRI scanner, one of only 11 nationwide.

The University of Colorado Cancer Center (UCCC) Biostatistics and Bioinformatics Shared Resource (BBSR) supports UCCC members and other shared resources by providing biostatistical and bioinformatic expertise and support services for all stages of laboratory-based research projects, experimental therapeutic studies, population sciences research, and clinical trials.

The Cell Technologies Shared Resource supports research on the Anschutz Campus and in surrounding communities with a service that includes reduced rate access to over 400 authenticated human cell lines, canine cancer cell lines from CSU Flint Veterinary Cancer Center, mouse cell lines, and rat cell lines.  Protein expression and purification including antibody and tag proteins.   Live Cell Imaging with Sartorius Incucyte system.

The mission of the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus (CU AMC) Drug Discovery and Development Shared Resource (D3SR) is to provide expertise and infrastructure to facilitate drug discovery at different stages of the development pipeline, including assay development and validation, high-throughput screening (HTS) and image-based high-content screening (HCS) discovery, hit-to-lead validation and optimization, and in vitro and in vivo pharmacology including pharmacokinetics (PK) and pharmacodynamics (PD) as well as toxicology.

The Flow Cytometry Shared Resource is committed to providing quality state-of-the-art flow cytometry services to researchers on the Anschutz Campus and surrounding biotech community. We specialize in high-end equipment that can perform sophisticated, multicolor analysis and sorting, in addition to more standard assays.

The Functional Genomics Shared Resource (FGSRS) provides tools and technical support to accomplish gene expression modulation via shRNA, ORF and CRISPR technologies, for individual genes, pathway-focused genes, and genome-wide analysis.

The Genomics Shared Resource is an advanced, state-of-the-art Next Generation (NextGen) DNA sequencing and microarray technology center dedicated to providing high-quality NextGen DNA sequencing, single-cell genomics, microarray, instruction, and consultation services to the research and clinical communities on the Anschutz Campus and surrounding region.

The Human Immunology and Immunotherapy Initiative Shared Resource provides standardized peripheral blood and tissue sample processing and state-of-the-art immune monitoring assays at multiple levels. The assays offered include immunophenotyping and functional characterization by flow cytometry and mass cytometry, multicolor fluorescence tissue imaging, multiplex cytokine analysis, and cellular assays (in vitro killing, proliferation, intracellular cytokines, etc).

The goal of the Biological Mass Spectrometry Facility is to provide investigators with the capabilities to identify, characterize, and quantify biomolecules present in tissues, cells, and biological fluids. The facility houses both Proteomics and Metabolomics Cores, and aims to assist members with solving difficult or previously intractable problems in biomedical research. Methods for biomolecule isolation, separation, quantification, identification and bioinformatics analysis, together with expert guidance in study design, are integrated into expertise offered by the Facility. Our access to diverse analytical technologies thereby allows investigators to adopt multiple strategies and to independently verify their findings.

The Pathology Shared Resource located in the Department of Pathology provides researchers access to the full spectrum of expertise in biobanking, pathology, histology, molecular pathology, and cytogenetics. Services are provided through four integrated sections: Biobanking, Research Histology, Molecular Pathology, and Cytogenetics. The PSR is designed to support the biospecimen handling requirements of any local or multi-institutional research study, biobanking, Investigator Initiated trial, or clinical trial with full integration into the OnCore Clinical Trial Management System. Through integration with the Pathology clinical operation, the PSR offers clinical-grade sample processing and testing for research and clinical trial correlative studies.

The Population Health Shared Resource (PHSR) allows investigators access to comprehensive computerized patient and provider data, including those through COMPASS, the University’s integrated health data warehouse, and SEER-Medicare databases, and offers support to members developing research proposals within community and academic practice settings.

The Structural Biology Shared Resource (SBSR) is one of only two NCI-designated cancer centers that provide access to instrumentation and expertise in the use of X-ray crystallography, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (NMR), high field NMR, and synchrotron, promoting the application of structural studies to the molecular basis of cellular processes.
