Tennessee Center for Health Workforce Development at Covenant Health:

Covenant Health, East Tennessee’s largest healthcare delivery system, has Internal Medicine opportunities available that qualify for the TCWD Residency Incentive.

The TCWD Residency Incentive is a financial incentive offered to medical residents in primary care (FM, IM, IM/Peds, Peds, OB/GYN) and behavioral health programs in exchange for a service commitment at a medically underserved practice site in Tennessee. 

Applicants are eligible for either $105,000 or $140,000 based on a respective three-or-four-year length of residency. The financial incentive is paid on a quarterly basis for the length of residency, even if you are awarded the incentive later in your program. The post-graduate service commitments are also based on the length of residency (ex: if you are in a three-year residency and accept our financial incentive, then you owe us three years of a post-graduate service commitment).  The service commitments are carried out in an area or population that has too few primary or mental health providers, and may include people who face economic, behavioral, cultural or linguistic barriers to healthcare. These medically underserved communities can be in rural or inner-city urban areas. These funds are unencumbered and can be used however the resident chooses. You must be a US Citizen or permanent resident to be eligible for this incentive. 

This is a competitive program, only 5-7 applicants are selected each quarter.

MASSACHUSETTS - PRIVATE PRACTICE - 7on / 7 off, 9 hour shifts (Other scheduling structure available to tailor to candidate).   Seeking Hospitalists for established team of 16 Hospitalist providers in South Eastern, Massachusetts. Group admits patients to two hospitals (500 Beds). Both hospitals have Emergency Rooms and ICU's, but Intensivists generally manage the complex ICU patients. One also has an eICU for night-time ICU coverage. Although there may be ICU admissions, there are no requirements to perform invasive procedures or intubations. The Boston hospitals are resources for complex patients who require transfer to a tertiary care center. The Hospitalists generally work one week and are off one week, alternating between the two hospitals. They are the primary Hospitalist group at one of the Hospitals. This is a day position. Salary is competitive, and you are eligible for a bonus pool after 1 year and for stockholder status with minimal buy-in. They recently added a web-based charge-capture and billing system for their Hospitalists, compatible with smart-phones and iPads, in order to maximize efficiency.

    9.) NEWTON, MASSACHUSETTS - Newton Wellesley Hospital offers a rich teaching and learning environment. Hospitalists hold academic appointments at Tufts University School of Medicine and the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences.  As clinician- educators, they are responsible for teaching and supervising Tufts Medical students and from Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) Internal Medicine Residency Program.  The hospitalists attend on the teaching service, participate in teaching rounds, and present at the resident noon conference series. Weekly grand rounds and tumor conference, and quarterly morbidity and mortality rounds contribute to the academic atmosphere.  Currently, a full-time hospitalist works 16 clinical shifts per month which includes two weekends and up to two overnight shifts. Our on-service days average approximately 11 hours. The overnight shift is 12 hours from 7 PM to 7 AM. The evening admitting shifts are 7 hours but extend longer when needed. In addition to clinical responsibilities, each hospitalist is paid for 2 administrative days per month to permit and encourage members of our group to become involved in hospital committees and initiatives, quality projects, faculty development, and medical education. NWH offers a competitive compensation package with full benefits including malpractice insurance, health and dental insurance, 403b retirement plan, continuing medical education stipend and a bonus-incentive plan.

    *Must be able to admit patients from the ER as quickly and efficiently as possible (this metric is tracked). Once contacted by the ER for an Admission, the Provider is expected to place an order for admission in <30 minutes

    *Night Intensivist coverage on site
    *Physician to attend any CODE BLUEs for Hospitalist patients, although they are not considered a formal member of the Code Team
