Advanced Cardiovascular Imaging Fellowship
The University of Colorado offers an Advanced Cardiovascular Imaging Fellowship, a one-year training program designed to develop advanced expertise in cardiac computed tomography (CT) and cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Fellows receive comprehensive, high-volume training in both modalities and achieve Level III COCATS competency in cardiac CT and cardiac MRI upon completion of the fellowship. Additional opportunities are available for training in cardiac PET/CT, SPECT, and interventional echocardiography for interested applicants.
The University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus is the largest tertiary care academic center in the Mountain Region. Fellows train alongside a multidisciplinary faculty that includes four Level III–trained cardiac CT/MRI cardiologists and four cardiothoracic radiologists. The program is supported by dedicated, state-of-the-art CT and MRI scanners with specialized technologists. Fellows are exposed to a high volume and broad complexity of cardiac CT and MRI studies spanning the full spectrum of cardiovascular disease, including coronary and structural heart disease, congenital heart disease, vascular imaging, cardiomyopathies, cardio-oncology, and general cardiovascular imaging.
The Advanced Cardiovascular Imaging Fellowship at the University of Colorado, like similar programs nationwide, is not ACGME-accredited. Accordingly, fellows are appointed as Clinical Instructors at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. Graduates of the program are well prepared for leadership roles in advanced cardiovascular imaging and are eligible for national certification examinations, including the Certification Board of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (CBCMR) and the Certification Board of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography (CBCCT).
