The three-dimensional (3-D) Imaging Laboratory was founded in 1996 under the Interventional Section, Cardiology Division, Department of Medicine. The goal of the 3D-IL is to develop, implement, and validate various computer-assisted utilities based on different medical imaging techniques to facilitate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in the cardiac catheterization laboratories.
a) On-line 3-D image-guidance and rapid heart prototyping to facilitate medical simulation and to assist coronary and structural heart disease interventions.
b) Multi-modality fusion (CT, X-ray, and Ultrasound) and advanced quantitative analysis for
pre-procedural planning and post-procedure surveillance to improve patient care.
c) Kinetic and deformation analyses on vascular arteries, cardiac structures and implanted
devices to evaluate outcome efficacy and device performance.
