Global Emergency Medicine and Public Health Fellowship

This fellowship immerses emergency physicians in the evolving field of global health, offering hands-on experience and meaningful engagement with global initiatives. Fellows will build a strong foundation in global emergency medicine, apply these principles in real-world settings, and develop the research skills needed to become academic clinicians with a specialty in this field.

The program is one or two years in length depending on an optional advanced degree (e.g. MPH). In addition to the MPH, fellows benefit from a structured curriculum and dedicated mentorship from the core faculty of the department’s Global Emergency Care Initiative. Fellows also have the opportunity to partner with the University of Colorado WHO Collaborating Centre for Acute Care.

In this fellowship, you will:

  • Build a strong foundation in emergency medicine education, research, systems development, humanitarian assistance, disaster management, public and community health, clinical care, and program management
  • Develop an independent project with sustained mentorship in one or more global emergency medicine–related disciplines at Denver Health/University of Colorado
  • Participate in focused global and domestic experiences across a variety of clinical and community settings
