Anesthesiology Critical Care Medicine Fellowship

This ACGME-approved fellowship is designed to build on core emergency medicine residency training through a comprehensive and immersive critical care experience. Graduates are prepared to care for critically ill patients across a broad range of ICU settings. The two-year program for emergency medicine graduates is co-sponsored by the Departments of Anesthesiology and Emergency Medicine. Its curriculum emphasizes high-acuity clinical training, graduated responsibility, and a strong educational foundation in multidisciplinary critical care. All graduates are eligible for board certification through the combined American Board of Anesthesiology and American Board of Emergency Medicine pathway.

Fellows gain extensive hands-on experience through:
  • Training in five subspecialty intensive care units: Medical, Surgical-Trauma, Cardiothoracic, Neurology/Neurosurgery, and Burn
  • Dedicated rotations in critical care point-of-care ultrasound and echocardiography
  • Clinical research and elective time that support individualized learning, scholarly development, and focused subspecialty training
