Medical Toxicology Fellowship


The Medical Toxicology Fellowship is based at Rocky Mountain Poison & Drug Safety (RMPDS), this two-year ACGME-accredited fellowship is designed to give fellows ample opportunities to publish and gain valuable hands-on experience in toxicology. The broad range of medical toxicology includes acute and chronic poisoning, adverse drug reactions, substance abuse and withdrawal, envenomation, workplace chemical exposure, drug effects and metabolism, and mass exposure to industrial chemicals and chemical, biologic, or radiologic weapons. RMPDS, one of the oldest and busiest poison centers in the country, has trained over 70 medical and clinical toxicologists since 1976.

Fellows will gain hands-on experience through:
  • Poison center training and didactics based at RMPDS
  • Bedside clinical care provided at Denver Health Medical Center, the UCHealth University of Colorado Hospital, and Children’s Hospital of Colorado.
  • Clinical training and mentorship provided by a committed group of over 25 board-certified medical toxicologists and 2 ABAT-certified clinical toxicologists.
  • Graduates of the fellowship are eligible to take the subspecialty examination in Medical Toxicology, approved by the American Board of Medical Specialties.
