The Firearm Injury Prevention Initiative strives to prevent firearm-related injuries and deaths in homes and communities across Colorado and the U.S. through collaboration, research, and education. We are committed to an approach rooted in:

  • Recognition of a common goal of health and security,

  • Engagement of impacted communities and those with lived experiences

What's New

FIPI Launches Firearm Business Office Hours

Join FIPI for bi-monthly virtual office hours hosted by firearm industry partners and experienced secure storage program facilitators. These sessions are open to any firearm business (shooting ranges, retailers, instructors, etc.) interested in learning more about providing secure storage and/or suicide prevention education or services (on-site storage, distributing devices).

These sessions will occur monthly:

  • First Thursdays at 11 a.m. MST
  • Third Wednesdays at 11 a.m. MST

Advanced registration is requested, RSVP online.

Findings from the Inaugural Colorado Firearm Injury Prevention Survey Released

The Colorado Firearm Injury Prevention Survey (COFIPS) provides comprehensive, Colorado-specific data and insight into the impact and prevention of firearm-involved harms in our state. FIPI, in partnership with the Colorado School of Public Health Injury & Violence Prevention Center, will conduct the COFIPS annually.

Faculty and Postdoctoral Fellowship Opportunities with FIPI

We are seeking candidates for multiple faculty positions at the rank of instructor, assistant professor, or associate professor and an intensive two-year postdoctoral program of mentored, applied research focusing on the prevention of firearm injuries and related harms.
