IRB Approval Made Easier

Research is an important driver for educational programs in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Colorado. Innovation is also a guiding principle, which positions the education faculty in an optimal position to produce research and scholarship.

To facilitate research productivity, the Department has established a blanket IRB for education research through the Colorado Multiple Institutional Review Board (COMIRB). The Departmental IRB gives the authority for study approval to the Vice Chair of Education, which has resulted in a significant decrease in time required for the review and approval process.
