The Denver Health Emergency Psychiatry Fellowship trains physician leaders in the subspecialty of emergency psychiatry. Emergency departments play a vital role in identifying and treating behavioral emergencies and substance use disorders. Fellows in this program will master core clinical skills and develop experience and expertise in team leadership and program development with mentorship from faculty in psychiatry and emergency medicine.
Although other training programs offer exposure to practice in emergency departments, the Denver Health Emergency Psychiatry Fellowship is the only program designed specifically to train emergency physicians and psychiatrists under faculty who specialize in the field. Fellows benefit from practice as part of Denver Health’s Level-1 Trauma Center and dedicated Psychiatric Emergency Services unit; opportunities to practice at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Center’s Level-1 Trauma Center are also available.
