The 6th annual Department of Bioengineering was held in hyflex format this year, on September 24, 2021. To meet the diverse interests of both the department’s undergraduate and graduate students, BMES hosts these events to facilitate collaboration between industry partners, medical professionals, and researchers. Pitch Night offers a platform for potential principal investigators (PIs) to recruit students for projects and research opportunities. Presenters have five minutes to “pitch” project ideas in basic science, translational/clinical medicine, and device engineering to the attending students. The goal is to help match the students with opportunities that interest them and meet the needs of the potential PI's. Through this event, graduate students find MS project & thesis topics and undergraduates learn about potential undergraduate research opportunities. All students are able to learn more about cutting edge research and industry opportunities as well as the variety of research happening on campus. At this year’s Pitch Night, there were 28 projects pitched and more than 70 attendees! A huge thanks to BS/MS student Wendy Schadler who organized the event from start to finish.
