Mission

My mission is to educate students on current industry practices for health technology commercialization.

Collaborations and Tools

My teaching approach uses a combination of interactive lectures, conversations with industry leaders, and individual student mentorship. My key collaborator is Dr. Robin Shandas.

Work We Do

The goal of my teaching as an Assistant Professor Adjoint in the Department of Bioengineering, College of Engineering, Design and Computing is to complement students' technical bioengineering knowledge by providing recent and practical knowledge on how healthcare technology innovations are brought to market in the United States and around the world.

I also currently serve as the Senior Director of Global Marketing for Medtronic's Perioperative Complications portfolio in the Patient Monitoring Operating Unit. My team and I are responsible for bringing to market non-invasive monitoring technologies designed to help clinicians improve patient safety. I joined Medtronic in 2009 and progressed through positions of increasing responsibility in Research and Development, Clinical Research and Medical Science and Global Marketing.

In addition to my role in industry, I serve on the The Johns Hopkins Center for Bioengineering Innovation & Design External Advisory Board and am the Vice Chair of the Board of Directors for the Colorado BioScience Institute, an educational non-profit.

Prior to joining Medtronic, I was a Research Fellow and National Institutes of Health trainee in the Department of Integrative Physiology at the University of Colorado at Boulder where I conducted translational research on how lifestyle modification improves cardiovascular and metabolic health.
