Colorado was selected as 1 of 3 states for the “Early Childhood Developmental Health Systems: Evidence to Impact” award. Sites will focus on strategies that “put families and equity first”. Dr. Dawn Magnusson will be serving in a consulting role and will be expanding the work that has been done around shared decision making to support the design, implementation, and evaluation of a statewide, comprehensive roadmap for early childhood developmental promotion, screening, and intervention that improves outcomes and reduces disparities for historically underserved/marginalized communities.

CU Anschutz researchers assessed the financial payoff of pursuing a PhD in physical therapy after obtaining a Doctor of Physical Therapy. They found that long-term earnings do outweigh early deficits, and PhD-holders out-earn those with a DPT only. Additionally, there is a shortage of PhD-trained DPTs, as PT programs expand nationwide.

Dr. EJ Gann joined the CU PM&R and PT faculty on January 17, 2023. Dr. Gann will be involved in teaching the neurologic rehabilitation curriculum for physical therapy students and the Interprofessional Education Program. He will also continue to see patients with neurologic conditions at the UC Health outpatient clinic.

The President of the American Physical Therapy Association, Roger Herr, PT, MPA, visited the CU Anschutz Medical Campus on November 2, 2022. He toured UCHealth, met with faculty, and did a Q&A session with current Physical Therapy students.
