Alumni

Welcome to the University of Colorado Physical Therapy Alumni Association; connecting fellow alumni, program faculty, current students, and clinicians to promote the profession we all love!

Since 1948, when the first 6 graduates of the CU Physical Therapy Program entered the PT profession, our Program has trained over 2,000 therapists. Many of our alumni from past graduating classes are leaders in clinical practice, research, education and health policy.

Periodically we offer events from the Alumni Association. Be sure to visit the alumni events page to learn more about what's upcoming.

Alumni Awards

Nominating a peer for an alumni award is a meaningful way to recognize and celebrate their achievements and contributions. Highlighting your peer's hard work, dedication, and accomplishments, gives them the recognition they deserve and also fosters a sense of pride and unity within the alumni network, strengthening connections and relationships.

Please help us in celebrate the incredible physical therapists in our alumni community by nominating an alumna/us of the CU Physical Therapy Program for one of two 2025 Alumni Association Awards. Each year, the Alumni Association honors two of our own with the Alumni Achievement Award and Rising Star Award. Learn more about the criteria for each award and nominate a deserving alumnus/a here.

CU Physical Therapy Alumni News and Accomplishments

Ways to Get Involved

Alumni Board Membership

When you volunteer to become a board member you are helping to make an impact on current physical therapy students, have the opportunity to network with other alumni, and connect directly with the PT program.

Our Alumni Board Members serve as representatives of the alumni community, working to foster a strong relationship between alumni and the institution. This role involves participating in board meetings, contributing to strategic planning, supporting alumni events, and promoting the institution's mission and goals. The board meets virtually four times a year. You do not need to be local to join.

We are regularly seeking new members to participate in the alumni association meetings, held quarterly. Attendance can be done in person or via zoom. If interested, please contact marjorie.orourke@cuanschutz.edu

Mentoring

The CU Physical Therapy Alumni Association is always seeking alumni mentors for PT students. The program is open to PT students from all three classes, matches are made annually in the early Fall.

This is a mentoring program that focuses on promoting the well-being and achievement of CUPT students. This program seeks to foster a community of students in which shared experience and a passion for physical therapy become the basis for mutual support and a sense of belonging within the Physical Therapy Program. It also seeks to supplement social capital and professional development opportunities for students through direct education and partnership with peers and PT mentors. Alumni do not need to be local to be a mentor.

Ideal mentors will be:
  • Alumni of the CUPT Program.
  • Are able to connect with their mentee on an agreed upon basis (virtually and/or in person)
  • Have a commitment to student development and community service
  • Are open and reflective of their own experiences with their mentee
  • Value active listening, diversity, equity, inclusion, and compassion
