Research Development and Application Resources

Research Development

The Research Office can help investigators identify and target unique funding opportunities, including federal grants outside the NIH (DOD, etc.) and private foundation grants.

Types of assistance available:

  • For researchers who have already identified a particular grant or organization (private or governmental) they wish to target, the Research Office maintains a collection of resources including relevant past proposals submitted by DOM investigators, as well as information made available by the funding organizations.

  • The Research Office is also available to help researchers identify relevant federal grants outside the NIH, including Department of Defense and other non-NIH agencies, as well as foundation grants.

  • CU Advancement officers can assist researchers seeking funding from corporations, foundations and private donors. In this process, a CU Advancement officer will gather information to create a comprehensive research funding report, then work with the faculty member to identify and target opportunities of interest, build relationships with specific grant-making organizations, and (as appropriate) connect the faculty member to individual donors. The timeline for this process is 4-6 weeks to receive the funding research report, then ongoing interaction with CU Advancement in pursuing opportunities of interest.

  • The Department of Medicine has many designated ‘innovation liaisons’ within the Divisions to help researchers connect with CU Innovations. Their goal is to increase participation and engagement in commercialization and entrepreneurship activities. Division innovation liaisons provide a point of contact for CU Innovations and will support communications between researchers and CU Innovations regarding intellectual property and technology transfer.
