Teaching Opportunities
Small Group Teaching
- Residents have the opportunity to teach in the interactive pathology course for medical students during which case-oriented presentations are employed in small group sessions.
Teaching on Rotation
- Medical students will rotate in the pathology department and residents are expected to orient and teach students about pathology and the daily workflow.
- Senior residents often teach junior residents as part of graduated responsibility.
Didactic Teaching Experience
- Residents gain experience in medical education by composing and presenting case-based didactic sessions for their colleagues (1-2 annually).
Residents and Fellows as Educators Elective
- For residents interested in medical education, the CU School of Medicine’s Academy of Medical Educators offers a 3-week elective twice per year designed to enhance knowledge, skills, and attitudes of future academic teaching physician.
