I received my BS from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and MD from the Medical College of Wisconsin.  I completed a medicine internship at Evanston Hospital before starting ananatomic & clinical pathology residency and blood banking & transfusion medicine fellowship at Case Western Reserve/University Hospitals of Cleveland.    I am the Medical Director for the Transfusion Service, BDC (Blood Disorders Center) Apheresis Service, and AutoTransfusion (Perioperative Blood Salvage) Service of the University of Colorado Hospital, as well as the Associate Program Director for the Anatomic and Clinical Pathology Residency and Program Director of the Fellowship in Blood Banking and Transfusion Medicine at the CU School of Medicine.   I am a Professor of Clinical Pathology, which means that my ‘scholarly activity’ is primarily in the area of patient care. I have given several lectures and teleconferences/webinars over the years on topics related to the clinical laboratory and in particular related to the blood bank.
