Billing Policies

Self-Pay: Patients electing to self-pay for their testing will receive a 40% discount off the list price of the test(s).

Insurance Billing: When insurance information is provided, CU Medicine will bill a patient’s insurance carrier for the testing performed. The patient may be responsible for any amount not covered by their insurance.

Institutional Billing: Various ordering institutions have set pricing agreements for CGL’s services through CU Medicine. Patients being seen at these institutions may have their insurance billed by that institution. CGL does not participate in nor has any control over the outcomes of this billing.

Follow-up Testing Policy

When a proband is found to have a variant of uncertain significance (VUS) by CMA performed at CGL, two close biological family members may be tested by targeted CMA for free when relevant to the patient's medical care. Additional biological family members can be tested for an additional charge.

Preauthorization Details

CPT codes can be found in the Test Menu tab. Billing for the Colorado Genetics Laboratory is done by CU Medine (dba University Physicians, Inc.)
