Establishment of cell cultures for send out testing such as molecular or biochemical studies is available upon request.
Additional paperwork may be required and may include documentation of previously identified familial mutations and requisition forms for the reference laboratory.
Please contact us when tissue culture is needed for molecular or biochemical testing before the sample is obtained to help coordinate this type of testing.
Colorado Genetics Laboratory maintains cell culture for one week after send-out. If longer-term storage is requested, order Culture and Cryopreservation.
Colorado Genetics Laboratory can cryopreserve samples for possible future studies. Samples are usually held for two years. Samples can be held longer at the provider’s request and additional fees may be applied.
When testing on cryopreserved cells is desired, CGL will thaw and regrow the cells. Cultured cells can then be sent to a reference lab for molecular or biochemical testing. All paperwork for the referral lab is required, as well as CGL’s Combined Referral Specimens Info
