Cytopathology Fellowship

We strongly believe that fellowship programs should be able to meet with all applicants they select for interviews and that applicants should be free to interview with all programs for which they were offered an interview. 

This fellowship provides one year of advanced training in diagnostic cytopathology and the performance of fine needle aspirations of palpable lesions under the supervision of faculty who are all board-certified cytopathologists. The fellow will perform fine needle aspirations and provide immediate interpretations for specimens with faculty supervision. The cytopathology service has a high volume of non-gynecologic specimens, including fine needle aspiration specimens and core biopsies, many of which require rapid on-site evaluation (ROSE). Common sample types include ultra-sound guided endoscopy and bronchoscopy procedures, thyroid nodules and image-guided samples collected in Interventional Radiology. Fellows assume graduated responsibility throughout the year. Fellows are involved in the education of pathology resident and medical students rotating through Cytopathology. The fellow will also learn lab management and quality assurance principles and must complete a scholarly project during their program year. 

Requirements:

Preference will be given to candidates who are Board certified or are eligible for certification by the American Board of Pathology in anatomic pathology or anatomic and clinical pathology. 

Stipends: Commensurate with the level of training.

August 2024 - Applications reviewed and interview invitations sent to applicants.

Late August-September 2024 - Interviews
