If someone in your family has been diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes, you and/or your children may be at elevated risk for developing T1d during the course of your/their lifetime. Screening can help you know if you are likely to develop T1d or are already in the early stages.
In November 2022, the FDA cleared the way for a first-of-its-kind medication indicated to delay the onset of type 1 diabetes for patients currently in stage-2 of type 1 diabetes. The Barbara Davis Center offers this infusion therapy through its Early T1D Clinic to eligible patients.
