Providing Improved Access to Diabetes Care

Telemedicine provides a convenient alternative to driving to the BDC's main clinic in Aurora, allowing you to receive diabetes care from a BDC provider from home or a clinic close to home.

Through a network of telemedicine partner-clinics across Colorado and Wyoming and a home-telemedicine program, we are working hard to ensure that access to quality diabetes care is never far away or too much of a hassle for our patients. Many of our providers offer telemedicine options routinely, while others will see patients via home-telemedicine upon request.

Incorporating Telemedicine into Your Care Plan

Telemedicine is available to established patients for a variety of services, including routine follow-up appointments, insulin pump and continuous glucose monitor trainings, and dietician consults. Our telemedicine clinics are open to all patients, while home telemedicine is currently available to patients in Colorado and Wyoming*.

While telemedicine is a tremendous tool and makes it easier than ever to connect with your medical team, it does have its limitations. As such, we do encourage our patients to be seen in person at our main clinic, or at one of our outreach clinics, at least once per year.

Due to the complex nature of diabetes and in order to ensure we are adequately meeting your needs, we do ask that new patients establish care at our clinic in Aurora prior to being seen by telemedicine.

Beyond Telemedicine

Managing Type 1 Diabetes is a collaborative process and the Barbara Davis Center is happy to provide an array of services to our patients and their primary care providers. In addition to clinic and home based telemedicine, the BDC also offers outreach clinics along Colorado's Front Range and is working on developing a framework to offer eConsults to better serve primary care, pediatric, and family doctor's across Colorado and Wyoming.

Our providers and staff are also available to patients and external providers by phone. If you have any urgent questions or concerns, please contact our main line: (303) 724-2323.
