The CU Physical Therapy Program congratulates Dana Judd, PT, DPT, PhD, on her recent promotion to Section Director of Student Affairs, a role held by Mary Jane Rapport, PT, DPT, PhD, FAPTA, and Faulty Residency Director. Dr. Judd joined the CU Physical Therapy faculty in 2014 and has been committed to optimizing students’ experiences in the PT program by providing creative, active learning activities while promoting critical thinking for sound clinical practice. She is the course director and instructor for several courses in the first year DPT curriculum including foundational courses in patient examination, patient management, and clinical reasoning. Her educational research interests include outcomes in evidence-based practice curricula, fostering clinical reasoning skills in the early learner, and the use of technology for teaching and learning. She completed the Teaching Scholars Program in 2017 which provided a strong foundation for curriculum development and educational scholarship, of which she will lend her expertise to the development and administration of the Faculty Residency Program. In 2021 she was selected as a member of the Academy of Medical Educators on the CU Anschutz Campus. Additionally, Dr. Judd has served on numerous committees, including the curriculum committee, calendar planning committee, and the graduation committee, which she has led since 2016. Her roles on these student-centered committees have provided her the experience to move into a leadership role overseeing student affairs.

In her role as a Section Director, Dr. Judd will work to support all students in their academic and personal development while they are part of CU Physical Therapy, providing oversight of student advisement and support services. She will assume leadership of the Student Promotions Committee, which works with students to ensure their successful completion of the program and will coordinate with student services on the Anschutz Medical Campus to support student well-being. Dr. Judd will also oversee student matriculation and coordinate ceremonies and events for the program. She will also contribute to student communications.

In her role as Faculty Residency Director, Dr. Judd’s will direct the PT program newest residency, which is a structured, post-professional education program for PTs aspiring to an academic position. She will provide oversight of the curriculum development, initial accreditation, operations, goals, and outcomes of the post-professional program. The program will welcome its first faculty resident in the summer of 2022.

CU PT Program Director Dr. Michael Harris-Love added, “Given Dr. Judd’s range of experience from her educational scholarship to her role in helping to establish the Faculty Residency at CU PT, she will provide the needed leadership for the developing Faculty Residency to gain full accreditation.”

“I am looking forward to working closely with students, faculty, and our larger campus community to best support and engage students during their time in the program,” Dr. Judd stated. “I am excited to lead the faculty residency and be part of developing academicians who will engage in innovative and excellent PT education.”

After 23 years of service to the University of Colorado, Dr. Mary Jane Rapport, retired on February 28, 2022. Dr. Rapport lead a distinguished career at CU, starting in 1997 when she worked as Assistant Professor in the Department of Special Education on the Denver campus. In 1998, she joined the faculty in the School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics and was affiliated with JFK Partners. Dr. Rapport officially joined the PT faculty in 2005. Dr. Rapport has been instrumental in many initiatives of the Physical Therapy Program, including the move from the 9^th and Colorado Health Science location to the CU Anschutz Medical Campus. Throughout the years, she has worked on the Pediatric Physical Therapy Residency, the Faculty Residency, building the Teaching Scholars Program in the School of Medicine, building the Education Scholarship, program curriculum changes in 2007, and again in 2016, the Community Volunteer Program, and starting Interprofessional Education at CU Anschutz. Dr. Rapport has served on number American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) committees and task forces, as well as the Federation of State Boards Physical Therapy (FSBPT) Practice Analysis Task Force.
