Nutrition T32 Research Fellowship: July 2022 - present
Mentor: Matthew Haemer, MD, MPH
Research Topic: To
examine determinants of nutritional and cardiometabolic disparities
among racial/ethnic groups and develop health promotion interventions
that are culturally inclusive, improve diet quality, and prevent
adiposity and insulin.
Nutrition T32 Research Fellowship: January 2024 - present
Mentors: Joanne B. Cole, PhD and Kartik Shankar, PhD
Research Topic: My
research leverages genetics to 1) characterize the genetic architecture
influencing complex behaviors, including dietary intake and physical
activity traits, and 2) identify causal relationships between
those behaviors and metabolic health outcomes. My research also
explores the impact of sex as a biological variable in these contexts.
Nutrition T32 Research Fellowship: September 2021 - present
Clinical Fellowship: September 2020 - August 2021
Mentors: Sarah Borengasser PhD, Katherine Sauder, Phd, and Darcy Thompson, MD
Clinical/Research Interests: My
research interests include identifying potential epigenetic predictors
of adiposity risk in childhood and the influence maternal 1-carbon
nutrient intake may have on DNA methylation and adiposity in offspring.
*Each year faculty select a fellow who demonstrates exceptional leadership and dedication to nutrition research to promote collegiality and additional learning opportunities for the Section of Nutrition.
