Mento
r:  Kristen Boyle, PhD
Research Topic:  My research focuses on obesity, inflammation, cellular senescence, nutrition and, exercise physiology. I am interested in molecular biology, particularly RNA sequencing, immunohistochemistry, cell culture, protein and, gene expression.

Tiera Nell, MD

Pediatric Obesity and Nutrition Clinical Fellowship: November 2023 - present
Mentor:
  Matt Haemer, MD, MPH
Kristen Sutton, PhD

Kristen J. Sutton, PhD

Nutrition T32 Research Fellowship: January 2024 - present
Mentors: Joanne B. Cole, PhD and Kartik Shankar, PhD
Research Topic:
My research leverages genetics to 1) characterize the genetic architecture influencing complex behaviors, including dietary intake and physical activity traits, and 2) identify causal relationships between those behaviors and metabolic health outcomes.  My research also explores the impact of sex as a biological variable in these contexts.

Stephanie Waldrop, MD

Stephanie Waldrop, MD, MPH

Nutrition T32 Research Fellowship: September 2021 - present
Clinical Fellowship
:  September 2020 - August 2021
Mentors
: Sarah Borengasser PhD, Katherine Sauder, Phd, and Darcy Thompson, MD
Clinical/Research Interests:  My research interests include identifying potential epigenetic predictors of adiposity risk in childhood and the influence maternal 1-carbon nutrient intake may have on DNA methylation and adiposity in offspring.

Anthony Wang, MD

Nutrition T32 Fellowship: July 2023 - present
Mentor:
Kristen Boyle, PhD, and Kartik Shankar, PhD
Clinical Fellowship:
July 2022 - June 2023
Mentor:
  Darcy Thompson, MD, MP
Research Topic:
My research interests are to investigate epigenetic mechanisms that may predispose an individual to metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) and excess adiposity early in life including perinatal exposures.

*Each year faculty select a fellow who demonstrates exceptional leadership and dedication to nutrition research to promote collegiality and additional learning opportunities for the Section of Nutrition.
