Welcome to Emergency Medicine

The Department of Pediatrics Section of Emergency Medicine provides clinical services at Children's Hospital Colorado Emergency Department, on Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, CO, as well as at six other locations in metro Denver and Colorado Springs.

These include a 24/7 ED and after-hours Urgent Care at South campus in Highlands Ranch; a 24/7 Urgent Care at North campus in Broomfield; an after-hours Urgent Care in Uptown Denver; a 24/7 Emergency Department at Parker Adventist Hospital; an after-hours Urgent Care in Wheat Ridge; and an after-hours urgent care at Briargate, Colorado Springs.

Each year we care for over 160,000 pediatric patients at these seven facilities.

Our large group of pediatric faculty includes pediatric emergency physicians, pediatricians, advanced practice providers (nurse practitioners and ph​​ysicians assistants), PhDs and fellows.

Highlights and News

Maria Mandt, MD has been named recipient of the 2019 EMS Association of Colorado Medical Director of the Year award. Dr. Mandt was recognized for her work with Children’s Hospital Colorado and Aurora Fire EMS and for her service on the state Emergency Medical Practice Advisory Board.​

Halden Scott, MD, MSCS led a CU Anschutz team that developed a unique model allowing them to predict which children arriving in emergency departments are most likely to go into septic shock. 

Marion Sills, MD, MPH​ was honored by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) with the 2019 Technological Innovations in Pediatric Emergency Medicine Award for developing a mobile health app that guides parents through giving oral rehydration therapy to their children.
