As we enter October, we celebrate National Disability Employment Awareness Month, a time to recognize the vital contributions of workers with disabilities and promote inclusive employment practices.
Terry Hall, MC, CCC-SLP will discuss the Early Start Denver Model (ESDM), a comprehensive early intervention treatment approach for children ages 12 – 60 months. It has evolved from the original Denver model at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver, Colorado, to ESDM under the thoughtful eye of Dr. Sally Rogers and colleagues currently at the MIND institute at the University of California, Davis.
Did you know that Colorado does not have family law statutes to recognize any differences between a divorcing family with a child with support needs and typical children in child support calculations and parenting time calculations? This means Family Law attorneys and judges often do not recognize the uneven financial and parenting burden of a custodial parent for their child/adult child with chronic care support needs.
The Colorado IMPACT Initiative will be holding over 150 presentations for people with disabilities and/or mental health disorders and their loved ones to give them tools to empower them, communicate with 1st responders, ask for accommodations, advocate for themselves, and ultimately feel and be safe with first responders.
Teen CRUSH: Formative work to develop an intervention to increase the sexual health of adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder is seeking participants. This research aims to measure the knowledge and behavior concerning sexual health of adolescents with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and their parents.
The Section of Developmental Pediatrics and JFK Partners at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus are currently seeking research participation in Functional MRI Research Study. Individuals with autism spectrum disorders are needed for a research study to learn more about how exercise and social gaming affect brain responses.
