    The purpose of the parent resource guide and social story are to provide resources for families of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder navigating police interactions. The parent guide and social story are meant to be used together. The resource guide and the social story are meant to be read with your child as often as needed.

    Dear Families, Friends and Colleagues,
     
    We want to draw your attention to this Resource Guide, Template for a Crisis Plan and Announcement of the opportunity to participate in a research trial of the utility of the plan.  The materials are available to you to download and use as you wish.  Please bring it to the attention of anyone whom you think might be interested.  If someone wishes to participate in the trial they may call the number on the flyer and leave their contact information.  They will receive a follow up call within a few days and the study explained to them in greater depth.  Whether or not they chose to join the trial the Resource Guide and Plan template is available.  We of course would welcome any feedback users have.  We hope to have the materials translated into Spanish soon.
     
    This Resource Guide and plan template and trial is the product of work done by a succession of Medical and Graduate Students at CU over the past 6 years. The materials were recently updated consistent with the changes made to the Colorado Crisis Program, as it was revised July 2019. We hope you will find the materials useful and again welcome any feedback. On behalf of the team of students and faculty who have worked on this project beginning with the Gap Analysis regarding services for people Dually Diagnosed with an I/DD or Autism and Mental Health or Behavior disorder, we thank you for your interest.

    Welcome to the Voices of ASD Video Library, a collection of videos that explore the lives of individuals with ASD, with a focus on first-person accounts and an exploration of what it means to live with ASD. Our goal is to deepen understanding among individuals with ASD, their families, and communities through the sharing of personal stories. This is a project of the Autism and Developmental Disabilities Clinic of JFK Partners, a University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities.  Please check back from time to time as more videos will be added.

    Voices of Adults with ASD
    This video profiles four adults living with autism as they share their personal stories including their challenges, strengths, advice, and hopes/beliefs about the future. 

     

    Young Adults with ASD talk about Life Beyond High School
    This video depicts a conversation between two young adults with ASD as they discuss their transition from high school, as well as topics such as gender and sexuality, relationships and what has helped them over the years.  There is a “then and now” component to the film, as the two young people first met when they were teenagers and were reunited for making of the film.
