Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD) Fellowship

Program Director: Joseph Kay, MD

ACHD Aims

The Program’s AIMS are as follows:

1. Provide effective education to produce productive, outstanding ACHD leaders in the field
2. Provide excellent, innovative clinical care to a wide catchment area
3. Provide effective consultation and education for non-congenital cardiologists and internists to help enhance their quality of care and training

Children’s Hospital Colorado (CHOO) and University of Colorado Hospital (UCH), in conjunction with the University of Colorado School of Medicine, is pleased to offer an ACGME accredited 24-month fellowship program dedicated to the care of adults with congenital heart disease.

We are looking for well-qualified candidates who have completed an ACGME-accredited fellowship in pediatric cardiology or adult cardiology and will be board eligible by the start of the 4th year. The number of patients with congenital heart disease surviving to adulthood continues to increase--our ACHD program, first established in 2003, continues to grow, with over 2,000 outpatient visits per year. Our program is integrated between CHOO and UCH, with training tailored to each fellow's previous background and areas of interest. Graduates from our program will be eligible for ABIM board certification in ACHD.
