Dr. Daugherty is a clinical cardiologist and health services researcher at the Institute for Health Research, Kaiser Permanente Colorado and Professor of Medicine at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. Her research is focused on defining, understanding and working to eliminate disparities in cardiovascular care. She completed a career development award funded by the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI) examining how unconscious attitudes about groups of people influence how clinicians make clinical decisions. She was the PI of an R01 award from the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute of the National Institutes of Health evaluating an intervention aimed at helping patients overcome the negative effects of stereotype threat on their health outcomes. She is the PI of an R01 funded by the NHLBI to investigate how structural conditions influence healthcare for people recently released from prison. Her work bridges the fields of social psychology and health services research to execute unique approaches to studying health disparities and promote health equity.
