JD AinsworthJD Ainsworth, MBA, BS

Director of Finance and Administration (DFA)

JD is the Director of Finance and Administration for ACCORDS. He earned his BS in Healthcare Administration in 2010 and his MBA in 2018. He has worked in the healthcare industry for the past 11 years and has extensive experience in academic healthcare settings. Previously JD served as the Business Director for GIM (UCD), the Financial Manager for Medical Oncology (UCD), and as the Finance Manager for Allergy and Immunology at National Jewish Health. His professional interests include financial management, sponsored research management, team development, leadership, and interdepartmental relationship building. In his free time, he enjoys exploring the small towns of Colorado, collecting rare and old books and traveling.

Ellie BreretonElinor (Ellie) Brereton, MA

Professional Research Assistant

Ellie joined ACCORDS in 2018 as a Professional Research Assistant. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Northern Arizona University, and her Masters of Arts in Medical Anthropology from the University of Denver. Her research interests include health disparities, social determinants of health, shared decision making, and psychiatric care. Ellie is trained as an ethnographer and enjoys qualitative data collection and analysis. She was born and grew up in the UK, and travels as often as she can.

Michael BronsertMichael Bronsert, PhD

Senior Professional Research Assistant

Michael Bronsert graduated from Union College in 1994 with a bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology. In 1999 he completed his Master of Science in Biology at Andrews University where he studied behavioral neurobiology. For several years following his Master’s degree he worked as a Medical Technologist for Kaiser Permanente and also for Poudre Valley Hospital before deciding to purse as degree in statistics. In 2009 he received his PhD in Applied Statistics from the University of Northern Colorado. Dr. Bronsert joined COHO in January 2010 as a senior professional research assistant. ​

Will Carter, MIS

Senior IT Professional

Will began working at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus in 2016. He graduated from Colorado State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 2006 and a Masters in Computer Information Systems in 2015. Will primarily focuses on developing web-based applications and engineering data queries. Prior to joining the University, Will also worked in defense and in higher education financial aid.

Senior Professional Research Assistant

Catia earned her Master in Public Health with a focus in Community and Behavioral Health from the Colorado School of Public Health, CSPH, at the University of Colorado Denver. She has spent more than 16 years working with the Latino community in Colorado in education and public health programs. For more than 7 years, she has worked in a nutrition program with low-income elementary schools at the School of Medicine at UCD. She has been a consultant for the Center for Global Health at CSPH where she gathered, coordinated, and analyzed data to compile written reports for funders of Rapid Needs Assessments for Maternal and Child Health in Guatemala and Perú. Catia also has experience doing Community Based Participatory Research and facilitating focus groups. Currently, she works at ACCORDS doing Qualitative Research and Evaluation of programs. Catia is from Perú and in her spare time enjoys cooking Peruvian food, gardening, snowshoeing, road trips and traveling internationally.

Kori Eberle (1)Kori Eberle, BA

Professional Research Assistant

Kori joined ACCORDS in 2018 as a Professional Research Assistant. Before teaming up with ACCORDS, she gained extensive experience and training working with autistic children and their families, focusing on in-home play therapies and early childhood special education. Currently as a professional research assistant, her research focuses on healthcare disparities in disability populations. In her spare time, Kori enjoys all the typical Denver activities: running, snowboarding, biking, and kayaking.

Professional Research Assistant

Monica Fitzgerald joined ACCORDS in April 2018 as a Professional Research Assistant in the Shared Decision Making Core. She received her BA in History and Asian Studies in 2013 from the University of Puget Sound and holds a certificate in Secondary Education. Prior to joining ACCORDS, she taught middle school History and English in low-income schools in Phoenix and Denver. Her research interests include mental health, health disparities, and end-of-life care. She is currently pursuing her MPH at the Colorado School of Public Health. In her free time, Monica enjoys hiking up mountains and skiing back down them in the winter and running rivers in the summer.

Bryan Ford1 (1)Bryan Ford

Professional Research Assistant


Bryan earned a BS in Elementary Education and a BA in Spanish Education from Western Michigan University in 2006. After 10 years as an elementary school teacher, he decided to change paths and focus his analytical strengths on public health research. Bryan joined ACCORDS in June 2017 to support the respective cores and their research, specifically focusing on web development and dissemination. He now is the Program Manager of the NCI funded P50 Implementation Science Center for Cancer Control housed within ACCORDS. Bryan currently pursues an MPH at the Colorado School of Public Health with a concentration on Environmental Health.​

Sandra Garcia-Hernadez, MPHSandra Garcia-Hernadez

Professional Research Assistant

Sandra, a professional research assistant, earned her Bachelor of Science from Linfield University. She worked for the Oregon Pacific Area Health Education Center as an instructor before moving to Colorado for graduate school in 2016 and since then has been part of the Anschutz Medical Campus both, as a student and employee. Sandra has worked in the Cancer Center assisting in research for the Community Epidemiology and Program Evaluation Group, the Colorado Cancer Screening Program and as a medical interpreter for UC Health. Prior to joining ACCORDS, she worked in the Westwood community coordinating public health campaigns through community organizing. Sandra has also been part of global initiatives and research throughout Perú, Ecuador, and India. Outside of work you will find Sandra volunteering at the DAWN clinic or working on any of her hobbies; from salsa dancing, cooking, cycling, gardening to handcrafting wood decor.

Dennis Gurfinkel (1)Dennis Gurfinkel, MPH

Professional Research Assistant

Project Manager

Dennis Gurfinkel joined the ACCORDS in August 2013 as a professional research assistant working on collaborative population-based reminder/recall for immunizations for the Center for Research in Implementation Science and Prevention (CRISP). He is currently working on coordination and management roles for several state-wide immunization-delivery focused projects and a project advancing novel approaches to diabetic self-care education. Aside from project management, Dennis plays key roles in qualitative research and data management on his projects. He received his MPH from the Colorado School of Public Health in 2012. Dennis is part of the ACCORDS Wellness Committee.

Patrick Hosokawa, MS joined COHO in 2007. He has a Master of Science in Biostatistics from the University of Colorado Denver and was previously a web and database developer. Currently he provides statistical support for the SOAR and SAFTINet initiatives as well as the department of Neurosurgery.

Pilar Ingle1 (1)Pilar Ingle, MSW, LCSW

Professional Research Assistant

Pilar Ingle, MSW, LCSW, joined the ACCORDS Shared Decision Making Core in 2017 as a Professional Research Assistant. She received her BA in Psychology from the University of Colorado Boulder, and her MSW from the University of Michigan. Pilar completed her graduate clinical internship in inpatient Palliative Care, and has worked on a variety of projects with the Shared Decision Making Core, primarily in cardiology settings. She is currently pursuing her PhD in Social Work at the University of Denver. Her research interests are in palliative and end of life care, health care policy, and reducing health disparities. Pilar grew up in Denver and loves spending time in the mountains no matter what season.

AJZAndrea Jimenez-Zambrano, MPH

Senior Professional Research Assistant

Andrea Jimenez-Zambrano, MPH, a native Peruvian, completed her undergraduate education in Biology and Spanish at the University of Colorado Denver. She received a Master of Public Health degree in Community and Behavioral Health at the Colorado School of Public Health. She has experience working with Latino populations in the Denver Metro Area. After completing her MPH in 2012, Ms. Jimenez-Zambrano has been working in qualitative data methods, facilitating focus groups, developing and doing data collection through surveys, and analyzing data in SPSS. She has also worked on international rapid needs assessments in Guatemala and in Peru with the Center for Global Health. She is currently pursuing her PhD in Health and Behavioral Sciences at University of Colorado Denver and works at ACCORDS/CGH as Sr. Professional Research Assistant.

Katie (Damp) Klossner, MFA, MPA, CNP

Communications Program Manager

Katie joined ACCORDS in February 2020 - just about when COVID-19 was taking over the world. Originally from New York, Katie first moved to CO in 1995 to create/run the first academic theatre program at the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs. After ‘retiring’ from theatre, Katie primarily worked in community relations, marketing, and communications for many different industries (in Colorado and Michigan), including senior living, libraries, schools, online language learning, ebooks/technology, and educational publishing. Katie moved back to CO in 2019 and is thrilled to be with the University of Colorado again. Katie earned her BA in Drama/Communications from SUNY Potsdam, MFA in Theatre from West Virginia University, Masters in Public Administration from CU-Denver, and is a Certified Nonprofit Professional (CNP).

WILL,LAMMONSWilliam Lammons​, MA

Professional Research Assistant

Will joined ACCORDS in 2019 as a Professional Research Assistant. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from Millsaps College, his Masters of Arts in Anthropology from the University of Colorado Boulder, and a Graduate Certificate in Critical Media Practices from the University of Colorado Boulder. Will is trained as an ethnographer and qualitative researcher and has extensive experience as a filmmaker, media specialist, and photographer in the US, Mexico, and Guatemala. His master's and bachelor's research was on visual culture in Mexico, and he takes particular interest in applying his skills to support research on patient centered care and creating visual decision aids and films.

Kayla LaperrieKayla LaPerriere

Human Resources Program Manager

Kayla LaPerriere discovered her passion for Human Resources by ascending from reception, through two HR Coordinator positions into an HR Manager position with a home health care agency in Colorado Springs. In 2016, after five years of learning Human Resources hands-on, Kayla accepted a position with the University of Colorado School of Medicine, Physical Therapy Program as the Human Resources and Finance Coordinator. Now, in 2017, she has joined ACCORDS as the Human Resources Program Manager. Currently, Kayla is studying to take her SHRM certification in December. Kayla specializes in compliance followed by training, team building and employee relations. In her spare time, Kayla loves playing modern board games and scrapbooking.

Steve Lockhart new​Steven Lockhart, MPH

Steve Lockhart received his MPH from the Colorado School of Public Health in 2014 and his BA in Psychology from DU in 2008. He began work at COHO/ACCORDS in 2007 as a student worker on the Toolkits project with Dr. Sheana Bull. After graduating, Steve worked as a PRA on several Community Based Participatory Research studies with Dr. Debbi Main and the community group Taking Neighborhood Health to Heart. He has managed multiple projects focused on improving vaccination rates for all age groups using a variety of different interventions. He has considerable experience in project management, evaluation, and qualitative research methods. In 2017 Steve joined the Qualitative and Mixed Methods Core as a Senior PRA. In this position, he provides qualitative and mixed methods support in IRB submissions, guide development, data collection, coding, and analysis. Steve is also a proud member of the ACCORDS wellness committee.

Jessica LogarJessica Logar, BS

Grants and Contracts Coordinator

Jessica earned her undergraduate degree in Business Administration - Accounting Information Systems emphasis from the University of Colorado Denver. She joined the ACCORDS grants team in March 2019. Prior to working in ACCORDS she worked as a member of the postaward closeout team in the Office of Grants and Contracts, where she developed her knowledge of grant management and fiscal policies. In her current position, she supports both preaward and postaward aspects of the grant lifecycle. In her free time, Jessica enjoys photography, painting, and spending time with her cat.

Julie Maertens earned a PhD in applied social and health psychology in 2011 from Colorado State University, where she also worked as a teaching fellow in psychology, as a research associate in the department’s Safety Management Applied Research Team, and as the manager for several youth and family program evaluation projects contracted through the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment and the Colorado Department of Human Services. She has since been a project manager at ACCORDS for projects that aim to improve patient/provider communication, adolescent vaccination uptake, and patient adherence to antihypertensive medication.​

Rebekah MarshRebekah Marsh, MA

Professional Research Assistant

Rebekah joined the ACCORDS in February 2017 as a professional research assistant conducting qualitative research for various projects. She received her Master’s in Cultural Anthropology from the University of Denver in 2016 focusing on refugees’ and immigrants’ integration experiences in Greeley, Colorado. Before joining ACCORDS, she consulted for Denver Human Services on a Prevention Institute Grant to better understand perspectives around mental health by young men of color in the Denver Metro area. Her professional interests include cultural, medical, and economic anthropology and qualitative research methodologies.

Monica McNultyMonica McNulty, MS

Data Analyst, Database Developer

Monica McNulty, a Senior Professional Research Assistant, holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Health from Colorado State University and a Master of Science in Biometrics from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. Her primary areas of expertise include design, development and implementation of databases (MS Access and REDCap) for use in medical research studies, as well as SAS statistical analysis of the subsequently collected data. Over the years Monica’s involvement in medically-related research has covered a wide array of topics, from treatment of multiple sclerosis, to Native American mental health concerns, to quality of care in long-term health care facilities, to development of literacy in early childhood.

Andrew Medlyn is excited to join the Grants & Contracts Team at ACCORDS. Prior to joining ACCORDS, Andrew worked in the Department of Physical Medicine in Research Administration. Andrew is currently pursuing a Masters of Public at the Colorado School of Public Health and volunteers with the DAWN Clinic, a student run free clinic in Aurora. Andrew enjoys research administration because of his enthusiasm for helping others and the problem solving nature of the work. In his spare time, Andrew enjoys climbing, skiing, hiking and exploring all that Colorado has to offer.

Bridget Mosley (1)Bridget Mosley, MPH

Data Analyst

Bridget joined the ACCORDS Biostatistics and Data Analyst Team in 2017. She works with various investigators to manage and analyze their research data. Along with a Master in Public Health from Emory University, she has more than 20 years of experience using quantitative epidemiology skills on research projects. She previously worked on the Research Informatics team at Children’s Hospitals of Colorado and spent multiple years as the perinatal epidemiologist for the Birth Defect Research Center at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.

Amy Nickerson

Amy Nickerson joined ACCORDS in December 2015. Prior to joining ACCORDS, Amy worked at the University of Colorado Cancer Center as a Pre- & Post-Award Research Administrator starting in March 2009. Amy earned a BS in Management Information Systems from Southern New Hampshire University in 1990. In her spare time, Amy enjoys walking, hiking, photography and exploring Colorado and the Western United States.

Ty OgTyonek Ogemahgeshig

Pre-Award Grant Manager

Tyonek joined ACCORDS in September 2019. He graduated from Dartmouth College in 1999 with a Bachelor's of Arts in Mathematics and Native American Studies. He embraced the love of the Western Washington coast and his extended family, and dedicated the next decade to working for the Quinault Indian Tribe. After a chance phone call, he had to go see about a girl. Since then she has been the impetus to his life. Over this time, he has worked in grants administration for Dartmouth College (NH) in their OSP office and most recently the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center (Seattle, WA) as a Research Coordinator. The joy of his life is his son, Icuuwushga Xaxi Ogemahgeshig, who is a 7-year old wondrous enigma. In his free time, he enjoys good food, laughing, and chasing after his son.

​Kenny Pierce joined ACCORDS as a professional research assistant for the Colorado Program for Patient Centered Decisions in 2018. He received his BA in Public Health for the University of Colorado Denver in 2017. While his focus is public health, he has a variety of computer skills like graphic design, website design and computer programing in addition to his interest in all aspects of public health and health outcomes research. He is always looking to learn something new and plans on pursuing a MPH from the Colorado School of Public Health in 2019.

Rosa Prieto

Professional Research Assistant

Rose Prieto joined the ACCORDS team in 2018. She is currently working with Traditional vs Virtually-Integrated Co-Management of Children with Medical Complexity (CMC) Between Complex Care and Community-Based Primary Care Providers Study as a professional research assistant. She brings over 15 years of research and evaluation experience working with federal, state, and private funding agencies that include: Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, the Colorado Trust, the Denver Foundation, U.S. National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration, Health Resources and Services Administration Maternal and Child Health, and U.S. Department of Labor.

Jennifer Pyrzanowski, MSPH, has been managing research projects since 2006 at ACCORDS, where she also initiated and co-founded the Project Management Core. She currently manages Colorado’s PEDSnet membership and the Urology Research Program at the Department of Pediatric Urology. She earned a graduate certificate in Public Health Leadership from the University of North Carolina’s School of Public Health, an MSPH from the University of Colorado’s School of Medicine, and a BA in Biological Sciences from Smith College.

Alison Saville, MSPH, MSWAlison Saville

Project Manager

Alison graduated from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill in 2005 with a dual master’s degree in Public Health and Social Work. She has been working with ACCORDS since October 2007. Here she has been a project manager for several types of research projects, the majority are focused on centralized reminder/recall research to increase immunizations among children and adolescents. Alison has also presented results at state and national conferences and authored and co-authored several articles related to this work. Her main research/project interests are working to improve health outcomes for vulnerable populations, particularly women and children. She also co-leads the Project Management Core recently established at ACCORDs. When she's not working she enjoys spending time with her husband and son.

Sharon joined ACCORDS as a Data Analyst in 2016. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from Colorado College and a Master of Science in Biometrics from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. She has over 30 years’ experience working with both researchers and community members in a variety of areas such as cystic fibrosis testing, transgender health and evaluating school-based nutrition and physical activity programs.

Amanda Skenadore is born for the Towering House people and born into the Red Cheek Clan and comes from a small town called Chinle, Arizona, located on the Navajo Reservation. She earned her Master of Public Health with a concentration in Community Health from the Colorado School of Public Health. In addition, she has obtained her graduate certificate of Public Health in American Indian Health at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Her research interest includes American Indian health, health disparities, chronic disease prevention, and increasing vaccination awareness. She is passionate about health promotion and is committed to reaching and helping populations in need.

Guadalupe joined ACCORDS in the Spring of 2020 as a Professional Research Assistant. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences, emphasis in Chemistry and Biochemistry from the University of Northern Colorado in the Spring of 2018. Guadalupe is earning her MPH with dual concentrations in Epidemiology & Health Systems Management and Policy. At ACCORDS, she works with interdisciplinary teams on two different projects that aim to implement interventions at both preventative, early childhood stages and within the field of dissemination and implementation science. Guadalupe's professional interests include social epidemiology, patient advocacy through research, and pushing health policy to include the voices and truths of historically marginalized communities and populations. Outside of work, she enjoys kickboxing, long walks around the lake, and being with her family and friends.

Rebecca B Speer, MA is the Research Training Program Manager at ACCORDS for the K12 IMPACT Program, the SCORE Fellowship, and the Primary Care and Health Services Research Fellowship. She is a graduate of the University of Colorado, Boulder where she received two bachelor’s degrees in Spanish Language and Literature and in Communication. She then attended the University of California, Santa Barbara where she completed a master’s degree in Communication in 2010. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling, scuba diving, reading and socializing.

Christine Spina is the project manager on several different NIH-funded grants focusing on interventions to address vaccine uptake in both pediatric and obstetric settings. She earned her Master of Science in Public Health from the University of Colorado in 2006. Ms. Spina​ has 20 years of experience conducting health sciences outcomes research in the fields of diabetes, obesity and nutrition in addition to her current field of immunization research. She has extensive experience designing, conducting, and managing CDC and NIH funded grants.​

Research Program Coordinator

Ellen Joined the Colorado Health Outcomes Program as a Program Assistant/Fellowship Coordinator in November 2008. She has 10 years education experience as a Business Manager for two of her local neighborhood schools, serving preschool through 8th grade students. Previously, Ellen spent 15 years in advertising and marketing where she was responsible for the account planning, research and production departments. Her account experience includes Johns Manville, Colorado Lottery Proceeds, US Department of Housing and Urban Development, Vail Valley Marketing Board, Hunter Douglas and Qwest. She received her Bachelor of Arts from Colorado State University.

Program Manager (PhD candidate, Health and Behavioral Sciences)

Channing Tate, MPH, is a Professional Research Assistant with ACCORDS in the Shared Decision Making Core. Channing is a Colorado native who grew up in Boulder, Colorado. She attended Xavier University in Cincinnati, OH where she earned a B.S. degree. She began her research career working in the private sector at a biotech company for seven years. She obtained a MPH at the Colorado School of Public Health in 2008. Since 2008, Channing has worked as a research assistant on a variety of different research projects for both the University of Colorado and at Denver Health. Her research interests include health disparities, end-of-life care, and the aging population, to name just a few. Currently, she is working on a PhD in Health and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Colorado Denver.

Jake is a data analyst with ACCORDS. He received his M.S. degree in biostatistics from CU Anschutz. Prior to working with ACCORDS he worked for the Centers for American Indian and Alaska Native Health, also on the CU Anschutz campus.

Project Manager

Jocelyn has been a project manager for the ACCORDS Shared Decision Making Core since 2013, working primarily on cardiovascular studies and development of decision aids. She currently manages the DECIDE-LVAD Trial, a PCORI funded, multi-center trial testing the effectiveness and implementation of a shared decision support intervention for advanced heart failure patients considering left ventricular assist device treatment. Prior to working at ACCORDS, Jocelyn earned her master’s degree in Health Communication from Emerson College in collaboration with Tufts University School of Medicine in 2012, and received her bachelor’s in Communication Studies and Journalism from University of Portland in 2010.

Estefania Miramontes Valdes, MD

Professional Research Assistant

Estefania Miramontes Valdes, MD, a Mexican immigrant, earned her medical degree back in Mexico from the Tec of Monterrey School of Medicine. Very early into medical school she discovered her interest for public health and decided to make a career of it. She worked as a Project Manager for a non-profit organization – Health Commission of Consejo Nuevo Leon – in Monterrey, Mexico that develops childhood obesity and teenage pregnancy prevention health initiatives for the Department of Health. In 2018 she immigrated to Baltimore, MD, where she worked as a Community Outreach Specialist and researcher in a Family Planning program serving primarily immigrant and uninsured Latina women and girls in a pediatric care practice at the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. Within the first year of work, she summarized the results of this program and presented them as an abstract at a scientific meeting (Pediatric Academic Societies meeting, April 2019, Baltimore, MD). In 2019, The Bill and Melinda Gates Institute for Population and Reproductive Health awarded her as one of the 120 under 40 Family Planning leaders. During the COVID19 epidemic, she worked as a contact tracer for the Baltimore City Health Department. Recently, she moved to Denver and joined the ACCORDS as a Professional Research Assistant.

Professional Research Assistant

Gracie Venechuk (né Finnigan-Fox) joined ACCORDS in 2015 as a Professional Research Assistant with the Shared Decision Making Core. Since that time, she has worked primarily on projects regarding shared decision making in the context of heart failure treatment. She holds a BA in music from Berklee College of Music, and an MA in sociology from the University of Colorado, Denver. Currently, she works remotely while pursuing her PhD in sociology and demography at the University of Wisconsin, Madison.

Project Manager

Bryan joined ACCORDS as a Senior PRA in 2017, with Dr. Dan Matlock’s DECIDE-ICD project. He received his BS in 2009 from Calvin College in Michigan for Biology and Psychology. He comes to us with a variety of research and management experience in agriculture, microbiology, smoking cessation, impulsivity, memory, neurology, and care coordination for kids with complex medical needs. He is currently pursuing a MPH at University of Colorado Denver.​

Johnny WilliamsJohnny Williams, MPH

Professional Research Assistant, Qualitative

Johnny joined the ACCORDS team in August 2019 as a Qualitative Professional Research Assistant. He earned his Masters in Public Health in Health Systems Management and Policy from the Colorado School of Public Health and his Bachelors Degree in Nutritional Sciences from Oklahoma State University. Johnny has experience working with community based organizations such as the YMCA and Colorado Black Health Collaborative. His professional interests include chronic disease prevention, health systems capacity building and advocating for youth and at risk populations.

Rachel ZuckerRachel Zucke​r, MPH


Senior Professional Research Assistant

Rachel Zucker joined ACCORDS in 2016 as the Data Collaborative Project Manager/SrPRA working on CHORDS (Colorado Health Observation Regional Data Service) and other data sharing opportunities and projects. She received her Master of Public Health in Health Behavior from UNC – Chapel Hill in 2014, where she worked on preventive health projects ranging from HPV vaccination research to multi-unit housing smoking policies. After graduating, she worked in research and evaluation at a North Carolina nonprofit focused on organization-level employee health policies and benefits. Her professional interests include health behavior change, chronic disease prevention, community partnerships, and creating and supporting data sharing partnerships.
