Patty Braun, MD, MPH, FAAP is a Professor of Pediatrics, Family Medicine, Public Health and Dental Medicine at the University of Colorado Anschutz School of Medicine, Colorado School of Public Health, and University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine. She is a practicing pediatrician at Denver Health and Hospital (a large federally-qualified health center) and an oral health disparity researcher at the University of Colorado Center for Native Oral Health Research and Adult and Children’s Consortium for Research and Dissemination Science.
Dr. Braun’s professional interest focuses on reducing oral health disparities through innovative care-delivery models outside of the traditional dental office. This work includes a NIH-funded, large cluster-randomized trial of an oral health promotion intervention in Head Start classrooms across Navajo Nation, and pragmatic trials increasing access to oral health services in medical offices both by engaging medical providers in the provision of these services and integrating dental hygienists onto medical care teams in the primary care medical setting. Dr. Braun is also currently a Santa Fe Group Senior Founders Fellow and serves on the American Academy of Pediatrics Section of Oral Health Executive Committee.
Dr. Braun is a Colorado native, received her BA in Microbiology and Biochemistry from the University of Colorado. She attended the University of Colorado Medical School, completed her pediatric residency at Yale University and received her MPH at the Colorado School of Public Health.
