On Wednesday, May 3, 2023, the US Department of Veterans Affairs – Veterans Health Administration Eastern Colorado Health Care System and the Rocky Mountain Mental Illness Research Education and Clinical Center (MIRECC) for Suicide Prevention launched the first annual PACT Act Research Symposium for Veteran Health at the CU Anschutz Medical Campus Veterans Affairs Medical Center. The PACT Act is a historic new law that expands VA healthcare and benefits for Veterans exposed to burn pits and other toxic substances.

In collaboration with the Mayo Clinic, Colorado’s UCHealth — a clinical partner of the University of Colorado School of Medicine — has become the first hospital system in the U.S. to agree to provide data to the Limb Loss and Preservation Registry (LLPR). The newly created national database collects limb loss and limb preservation patient data to improve the quality, safety, and effectiveness of limb loss treatment and limb loss preservation.
