PRM Fellowship Application Information

Applicant Qualifications: Applicants to the Children’s Hospital Colorado/University of Colorado PRM Fellowship Program must meet one of the following requirements:

  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited residency program in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation 
  • Completion of a combined residency program in Pediatrics/PM&R
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited residency in Pediatrics AND an ACGME-accredited residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation

And complete:

  • American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation certification or eligibility.

Application Process:

Our program participates in the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS)  for all applications.  No paper applications are accepted or reviewed.  No partial applications will be accepted for interviews.

The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation adheres to the institutional selection policies as outlined by CU Graduate Medical Education. The full policy is located on the GME website.

ERAS applications will be reviewed and interview offers made on a rolling basis.  Application submission in July is strongly encouraged, but applications will be reviewed until August 31st. 

The ERAS application must include: 

  • Personal statement
  • Curriculum vitae, including any prior work experience, volunteer positions, leadership positions, research, quality, and safety work, publications
  • Copy of USMLE or COMLEX board scores
  • Dean's letter (MSPE) from an LCME (Liaison Committee on Medical Education) accredited school of allopathic or osteopathic medicine in the United States, Canada, or Puerto Rico, or a copy of the ECFMG certificate.

Minimum of three letters of recommendation from physicians the candidate’s PM&R residency program or elective rotations who are familiar with your most recent work.  One of the three letters should be from your PM&R Residency Program Director and one of the three letters is strongly recommended from a Pediatric Physiatrist. 

A completed application file consists of the documentation described in the requirements for entry. When all materials have been received, the applications are evaluated to determine which candidates will be interviewed.  Applicant interviews are by invitation only. 

The personal interview days with the faculty, fellows, and staff are an integral part of the application process. The department participates in the National Resident Matching Program process for two (2) PGY-5 positions each year.
For international citizens, the University of Colorado follows the GME policies on International Medical Graduates.

International Medical Graduates: the University of Colorado and Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine Fellowship follow the University of Colorado GME policies on International Medical Graduates.

International Medical Graduates: must meet the following criteria:
  • Have a valid ECFMG Certificate.
  • Residents in our program must be a U. S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, asylee, or possess the appropriate documentation to allow residents to legally train at the University of Colorado Denver School of Medicine.
  • Minimum selection criteria.
  • Any other criteria as determined by the program.

Interviewing:

All interviews will be invite only and held virtually in 2024. Applications will close and final invitations for the 24-25 recruitment cycle will conclude August 31st, 2024.
