The Executive Leadership Development Program (ELDP) is designed to equip senior healthcare leaders with the skills to lead people, programs, and organizations. This year-long, comprehensive program integrates strategy, change leadership, and innovation to prepare senior leaders for success in today’s complex academic healthcare environment.
9 IN-PERSON SESSIONS
The Executive Leadership Development Program consists of 9 in-person full-day training sessions designed to help participants build advanced skills in finance, driving change, executing strategy, and navigating organizational complexity in academic medicine.
EXPERT FACULTY
Learn from expert faculty from leading institutions like Duke, the University of Michigan, and CU Anschutz. Each faculty member is selected for their subject matter expertise, bringing decades of essential real-world experience and perspectives to the course content.
PRACTICAL, APPLICATION-FOCUSED LEARNING
Programs with the Institute for Healthcare Quality, Safety & Efficiency go beyond didactic training. The ELDP prepares participants to be truly successful executive leaders by providing opportunities for practical application of concepts to their work.
Participants will build advanced skills in finance, driving change, executing strategy, and navigating organizational complexity in academic medicine.
Apply the Six Domains of Leadership framework covering personal, relational, contextual, inspirational, supportive, and responsible leadership.
Utilize the Kotter framework and IHQSE Change Roadmap to lead and sustain change.
Develop evidence-based leadership practices to motivate, engage, and inspire teams.
Employ vision, strategy execution, and dashboards to drive your team’s success.
Understand financial systems, funds flow, and business case development.
Create high-performing teams and coach future leaders.
Build executive presence, influence, and communication systems.
Thrive in the era of AI, competitive growth strategies, and future healthcare trends.
The ELDP consists of 9 monthly full-day training sessions. All sessions will be held in-person at the CU Anschutz campus.
The ELDP runs from October 2026 - June 2027.
Session 1: October 6, 2026
Session 2: October 7, 2026
Session 3: November 19, 2026
Session 4: January 7, 2027
Session 5: February 4, 2027
Session 6: March 4, 2027
Session 7: April 8, 2027
Session 8: May 6, 2027
Session 9: June 10, 2027
The ELDP is designed exclusively for senior leaders at the CU Anschutz School of Medicine at the division head, vice chair, and department chair levels.
Participants must be nominated for the program by their department chair, senior associate dean, or executive vice dean. If you are interested in participating, please speak with your relevant supervisor to request a nomination.

The ELDP is fully funded by the CU Anschutz School of Medicine. Participants do not pay any tuition or fees associated with the program.
Participants of the Executive Leadership Development Program must currently hold the title of division head, vice chair, or department chair and be nominated for the program by their department chair, senior associate dean, or executive vice dean.
