About the Fellowship
The Fellowship in Health Quality Leadership focuses on professional, project, and program level-development. The program blends skill acquisition, application, and executive coaching to uniquely position fellows to accelerate their careers in quality leadership.
3 TRAINING PROGRAMS
The Fellowship in Health Quality Leadership includes participation in three of the IHQSE's top training programs:
Foundations in Healthcare Leadership: Hone your leadership skills through 4 days of in-person training and 1 year of individualized executive coaching and guidance.
Improvement Academy: Refine your and your team's quality improvement and change management skills as you solve a problem in your clinical or leadership space. Fellows have the opportunity to bring their own quality improvement team to these 2 days of in-person training and 9 months of 1-on-1 implementation coaching with IHQSE faculty.
Quality Systems Leadership: Learn what it takes to build and lead quality programs with monthly interactive, virtual sessions with national leaders in systems redesign.
1x1 EXECUTIVE COACHING
Receive tailored individual support to augment your growth and success as a leader! Through Foundations in Healthcare Leadership and Improvement Academy, fellows are assigned an expert faculty coach to guide their development over the course of the year.
LASTING PROFESSIONAL COMMUNITY
As a fellow, you aren't just building lasting connections with your fellowship cohort, you are joining the IHQSE community of healthcare professionals who value quality improvement, patient safety, and effective leadership. Since our founding, the IHQSE has trained nearly 5,000 individuals across the country and has supported more than 600 successful quality improvement projects, creating a valued network of knowledge and partnership.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of the IHQSE Fellowship, fellows will have a practical understanding and ability to effectively lead people, projects, and programs centered in quality, safety, and regulatory domains.
Leading People
Through the Foundations in Healthcare Leadership (FHL) program, a 4-day, in-person course taught by esteemed faculty leaders, fellows will learn 14 core leadership competencies. This knowledge base is augmented and applied through 12 months of 1-on-1 executive coaching to ensure graduate success.
Leading Projects
Fellows participate in a 2-day in-person Improvement Academy (IA), which guides them and their chosen home institution team through the completion of a significant quality improvement project. The program includes 6 months of post-course virtual coaching for the fellow and their team.
Leading Programs
Fellows finally complete the Quality Systems Leadership (QSL) program, a monthly interactive, virtual series focused on competencies for building and leading quality programs. This series will equip participants with the knowledge and skills to align their quality and safety work with larger organizational strategic priorities.
