"I was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona. I have always been fascinated with how basic chemicals combine to form a vast number of complex cellular components responsible for creating the incredible phenomenon of not only life, but also consciousness. This fascination motivated me to pursue two Bachelors of Science degrees in Molecular and Cellular Biology and Biochemistry at the University of Arizona which I completed in May 2019. My passion for molecular biology translates into a strong work ethic that drives me to overcome difficult research obstacles and take on new challenges. This attitude carries over into my hobbies of reading and hiking. There is no book too long and no mountain too high!"

Graduate Student - Molecular Biology Graduate Program

"My interest in research stems from a desire to better understand complex biological systems and to continue asking questions as my knowledge of molecular biology and immunology grows. I completed my undergraduate training in Biology at UNAM in Mexico City, where I developed a strong foundation in experimental science. I began my PhD at AMC in 2023 and now spend my days studying how dendritic cells drive chronic liver disease. Outside the lab, I enjoy skiing, reading, baking, and playing tennis."

"I transitioned into research because I have always been fascinated by how the human body works. To me, our biology is a kaleidoscope of constantly shifting pieces, where countless molecular interactions come together to create the unique picture of who we are. My passion for molecular biology grew from a desire to understand how that picture changes, and how these systems adapt in health and disease. Before beginning my PhD in Molecular Biology, I used my biochemistry degree to study the role of eosinophils in chronic gastrointestinal inflammatory disease. My research now focuses on how hepatic macrophages shape immune responses within the liver and how their functions are altered during inflammation. Outside the lab, I can usually be found swimming competitively, practicing aerial acrobatics, or working on my heavy metal vocals!"
