START: Students and Teachers Achieving Cancer Research Experiences Together

Mission

Our three-pronged approach aims to benefit students, teachers, the community and families of students by:

1. Offering multi-dimensional cancer research education, college credit, and mentored cancer research experiences to inspire and prepare local students to pursue science degrees in higher education and choose careers in cancer research.
2. Providing research experiences combined with graduate credit that will enable local science teachers to develop and deliver outstanding biomedical science lessons in their classrooms, foster the growth of young scientists in the AMC community, and transform science education at their local schools.
3. Engaging and educating family and community members about the impact of cancer research, cancer risk, and prevention topics.
