Our Mission 

Profound and intersectional impacts of systemic injustice are inherently complex and multifaceted in nature. The DEAR Education Subcommittee aims to bring dynamic, interactive and diverse seminars and workshop opportunities to the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics.

Our intent to become active members in decreasing or eliminating the incidence of racism and inequity in the academic institutions we participate, and our community at large, will be practiced by (1) amplifying historically underrepresented voices, (2) increasing cross-disciplinary communication in the academic research culture and (3) expanding our collective knowledge of equity related topics.

We also understand that in order to stand for ourselves and others against systems of inequality, our personal and professional skills must be honed. As such, the DEAR Education Subcommittee will provide regular workshops related to topics such as mental wellness, leadership and communication.
