The University of Colorado Physical Therapy Program is expanding opportunities for physical therapists seeking advanced specialty training with the launch of two new post-professional programs: the Cardiovascular & Pulmonary Physical Therapy Residency in partnership with UCHealth, and the Physical Therapy Performing Arts Fellowship. These innovative programs are designed to develop the next generation of expert clinicians, educators, leaders, and advocates in emerging areas of physical therapy practice.
Advanced Training in Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Physical Therapy
The Cardiovascular & Pulmonary Physical Therapy Residency offers immersive, mentored clinical training for physical therapists seeking advanced expertise in the management of individuals with complex cardiovascular and pulmonary conditions. Through experiences spanning intensive care units, acute care, outpatient rehabilitation, transplant services, and specialty clinics, residents gain exposure across the full continuum of care.
Offered through a unique partnership between the University of Colorado and UCHealth, the residency combines academic excellence with hands-on clinical learning. Residents work alongside nationally recognized faculty, board-certified specialists, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams while developing advanced clinical reasoning, leadership, teaching, quality improvement, and scholarly skills. Specialized training opportunities include exposure to mechanical circulatory support technologies and critical care rehabilitation.

Shaping the Future of Performing Arts Medicine
The Physical Therapy Performing Arts Fellowship prepares physical therapists to support performers through advanced clinical practice, mentorship, education, leadership development, and community engagement. Built on a strong foundation in dance medicine while expanding opportunities across the broader performing arts, the fellowship is designed for clinicians passionate about helping performers maintain health, optimize performance, and achieve career longevity.
Fellows in Training engage in specialized educational and clinical experiences that emphasize the unique physical demands of artistic performance. The program supports the development of clinicians who are not only skilled providers, but also educators, advocates, mentors, and contributors to the growing field of performing arts medicine. Whether participants come from a performing arts background or simply share a passion for serving artistic communities, the fellowship offers a unique opportunity to combine expertise in movement science with a commitment to performer health.
