Role of Semaglutide in Restoring Ovulation in Youth and Adults with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (RESTORE Study)
The purpose of the RESTORE study is to investigate the impact of semaglutide and metformin treatment on the ovulation of women and adolescent girls with PCOS. Our overarching hypothesis is that weight loss and metabolic improvements are required to improve reproductive health in individuals with PCOS.
Who are we looking for?
Female sex
Age 12-35 years old
Diagnosis of PCOS based on irregular menses cycles (6 or more weeks between) and high testosterone levels or testosterone related skin findings
Excess weight. BMI > 30 kg/m2 for adults and > 95th percentile if 18 years and under.
Okay if you are taking Metformin
Cannot have type 2 diabetes
Cannot be taking any hormonal medication
Must avoid becoming pregnant during the study
If you join the study, you will receive the following:
6 visits to our facility in Denver, Colorado over the course of 14 months
PCOS specific dietary counseling for a year
10 months of medication with semaglutide
Measurement of body composition
Testing for diabetes
PCOS education and support
Measurement of ovulation frequency
Reimbursement for time
Effect of Amino Acids on Hepatic Fat Content in Adolescents
We are currently recruiting for the AMINOS study. We need volunteers for fatty liver disease research. The purpose of the AMINOS study is to test if an amino acid drink can help reduce fat in the liver.
Who are we looking for?
Patient at Children's Hospital Colorado
Age 12-18 years old
Diagnosis of metabolic associated steatosis liver disease based on a liver biopsy
Excess weight: BMI > 95th percentile
Cannot have type 2 diabetes
If you join the study, you will receive the following:
2 months of amino acid supplement drink or 2 months of placebo with option to receive additional 10 months of amino acid supplement drink
Measurement of body composition including a liver MRI
Testing for diabetes
Reimbursement for time
