Ventilator Care Program

The Ventilator Care Program at Children’s Hospital Colorado is a comprehensive, multidisciplinary program that seeks to improve the quality of care, enhance outcomes, and provide better services for children with chronic ventilator–dependent lung disease and their families, and to enhance research, training, and education of health care providers. The program focuses on providing seamless care in partnership with families during the hospitalization, transition to home, and follow up in the clinic. Our group includes several physicians, including Drs. Chris Baker (pediatric pulmonary), Jason Gien (neonatology), Vivek Balasubramaniam (pediatric pulmonary) and Steve Abman (pediatric pulmonary), as well as outstanding respiratory therapists (Cloy Vaneman and Monte Leidholm) and others. In addition to caring for patients in the hospital and post-discharge, we provide extensive consultation for patients from throughout the country.
