Brian Be is the Self-Advocacy Coordinator for JFK Partners. He is Autistic Artist/Advocate living with various disabilities.
• Brian has been a caregiver, job coach, peer advocate, case manager, family member of persons of different abilities, community and family leader, Performing Artist, public presenter, and co facilitator - individually and with various disability organizations.
• He is alumni of the Colorado LEND/UCEDD training program and the AUCD Leadership Academy.
• He has served on the Colorado Behavioral Health Council Advisory Board, Self-Advocacy in Leadership (SAIL), was co-chair of the JFK Partners Community Advisory Council, and co-chair of the Autism Special Interest Group of AUCD.
• Brian co-developed Having InterDependence (HI) live interactive arts workshops with Phamaly Theatre, a theater company for performers with disabilities. Nearly 10 years after he initially developed HI, he is often asked to provide these workshops within training programs. Brian must have FUN!
• He coordinates speakers to present about their lived experience with disability for several student and faculty groups such as the Pediatric Residents and the Inclusive Minds Team Member Resource Group at Children’s Hospital Colorado.
• He serves as facilitator or master of ceremonies for conferences such as the PacWest Trainee Conference 2021 and the SOAR Conference in 2023. He also works on research grants to ensure the lived experience point of view is included in research and speaks in research didactics about community input into research.
