The CU Physical Therapy Program is proud to announce that Dr. Jennifer Stevens-Lapsley, Professor of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, has been selected by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) Geriatrics and the Academy of the American Physical Therapy Association to deliver the annual Carol B. Lewis lecture in 2025. This esteemed lecture provides an opportunity to hear from a distinguished physical therapist recognized for their extensive knowledge, significant accomplishments, and impactful contributions to the geriatrics specialty. Dr. Stevens-Lapsley will present on the topic, “Evidence Isn’t Enough: Why Culture and Leadership Matter in Implementing Rehabilitation Interventions,” highlighting the critical role of organizational culture and leadership in the successful implementation of rehabilitation practices.

In addition to this honor, Dr. Daniel Malone, Associate Professor of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and Director of the Hybrid Doctor of Physical Therapy Pathway, has been named the 2026 Linda Crane Memorial Lecture awardee by the APTA Academy of Cardiovascular & Pulmonary Physical Therapy. This award is given to individuals who have demonstrated exceptional contributions to the field of cardiovascular and pulmonary physical therapy. Dr. Malone's recognition underscores his dedication to advancing the profession and his commitment to excellence in education and patient care.

These accolades reflect the outstanding expertise and leadership within the CU School of Medicine's Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and the CU Physical Therapy Program.
