Story by Abigail Castro
Gabriella Jordan is a second-year student at the University of Colorado Physical Therapy Program. Gabi decided to pursue physical therapy as a career because she is passionate about advocating for movement as medicine. Additionally, Gabi appreciates connecting with patients to support them get back to doing the things they love.
Gabi is grateful for the resources CU PT has been able to provide, “CU has allowed me to discover my professional identity and reach my goals of becoming a medical professional.” Since starting the CU PT program, Gabi has continued to gain a deeper understanding of what it means to be a physical therapist and admires the diverse roles physical therapists have in healthcare. Gabi appreciates that CU has allowed her to grow as a clinician to prepare for her career as a physical therapist, “it excites me to have the opportunity, in just a few short months, to share my knowledge of the human body with my patients and work in a career that I love.”
Gabi decided to become a Pelvic Health PT so she can empower women, help them build confidence in all aspects of their life, and rediscover their strength. Gabi provides words of encouragement to students as they pursue a career in healthcare that focuses on women’s health, “I was not aware of the opportunities that a physical therapist could participate in women’s health prior to graduate school. Women’s health is a growing field, and we need more providers. If you are at all interested, I encourage you to get involved, you will not regret it!”
