Zachary Noriega | Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation/CU School of Medicine Jan 18, 2024What is your hometown?
South Lake Tahoe, CA
Where did you complete your undergraduate studies, and what did you study?
I studied Integrative Physiology at the University of Colorado, Boulder.
What drew you to the physical therapy profession and the CU Physical Therapy Program?
I was drawn to PT because of my overlapping passions for health sciences, exercise, connecting with people and helping them feel more connected to their bodies! I felt that CU DPT’s holistic approach to PT aligned well with my values and how I want to practice. Additionally, I attended CU Boulder for my undergraduate education and loved my experience, so I wanted to stay in the beautiful state of Colorado and at a University of Colorado school.
What made you interested in joining the CU Physical Therapy Alumni Association?
I was interested in joining the Alumni Association after the co-presidents came and spoke to our class about the benefits and opportunities the association can provide for the students through the broad network of alumni. I felt that joining the Alumni Association as a student representative was a great opportunity to convey the thoughts and needs of my peers to the alumni to help us build connections and curate learning experiences.
What do you enjoy most about serving on the CU PTAA?
I have really enjoyed interacting with the Alumni Association board and my fellow student representatives! It’s awesome to collaborate with such a passionate and creative group of people.
What has surprised you most about physical therapy school?
I was happily surprised at how close everyone in the cohort got so quickly! It’s great to have such an extensive support system of peers.
What are your professional goals after you complete physical therapy school?
I’m not exactly sure what my professional goals are after graduation, but I’m very interested in working with competitive skiers based on my background in skiing.
