Zachary Noriega | Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation/CU School of Medicine May 24, 2022The CU Physical Therapy Program congratulates Dan Malone, PT, PhD, CCS, on his recent promotion to Associate Program Director. Program Director Michael Harris-Love, PT, MPT, DSc, FGSA, FAPTA and the CU PT faculty reassessed the organizational structure of the program during the 2020 – 2021 academic year. This leadership reorganization process included reinstituting the Associate Program Director position, and Mary Jane Rapport, PT, DPT, PhD, FAPTA most recently served in this role from 2021 until her retirement earlier this year.
In his new role as Associate Program Director, Dr. Malone will work collaboratively with the leadership team to support CU PT Program operations, including day-to-day processes and procedures. He will also serve with Dr. Harris-Love as a liaison for intra-campus school and department partnerships. In addition, Dr. Malone will assist with program evaluation and oversight as well as facilities management. He will also ensure cohesive efforts among the newly established Section Directors for Curriculum, Research and Development, Post-Professional Education, and Student Affairs.
Dr. Malone joined the CU Physical Therapy faculty in September of 2011 and has assumed a number of roles during his time with the program which make him the ideal person for Associate Program Director. His service includes Team CAPTE leadership, the Faculty Advisory Committee, Chair of the Curriculum Committee, the Hybrid Development Task Force, and the Scheduling Task Force. Dr. Malone brings forth a positive energy, passionate optimism, humility, team building skills, and a genuine demeanor to the CU PT leadership team.
Dr. Harris-Love says of Dan, “Dr. Malone has over two decades of experience in meeting the needs of patients, leading clinical teams, and instructing students. Moreover, he has proven to be an essential colleague and faculty member during our re-accreditation efforts. He is more than prepared to contribute to our leadership team and help CU PT continue to meet its educational, research, and service goals.”
“I am honored in the trust placed in me by Dr. Harris-Love, the CU PT Program & the Department of PM&R. I am absolutely looking forward to working more closely with the CU PT Program Director, Section Directors and Coordinators, faculty, students, and other programs on the CU Anschutz Medical Campus. The CU PT Program is successful because of all the administrative, faculty and student talent on this campus. I firmly believe in the motto by Helen Keller that ‘alone we can do so little; together we can do so much,’” says Dr. Malone. “As I move into the Associate Program Director role, there is an Irish saying that will influence me… ‘May you have the hindsight to know where you’ve been, the foresight to know where you are going, and the insight to know when you have gone too far.’”
